How close are you to the golden ratio?
The Adonis ratio compares your shoulder circumference to your waist — classical art and modern research converge on 1.618 as the proportion people read as 'built'. Two measurements, instant answer.
Inputs
Measure around the widest point of your shoulders, arms relaxed.
At the narrowest point, usually just above the navel.

Ratio = shoulder circumference ÷ waist circumference, compared against the golden ratio (φ ≈ 1.618) that studies of perceived attractiveness and classical sculpture repeatedly land on. Getting there is two levers: build the delts, lats and upper chest (numerator), manage the waist (denominator). In Ascend, the anatomy heatmap shows exactly which of those muscles your training is actually hitting.

What is a good shoulder-to-waist ratio?
1.45+ reads distinctly athletic; 1.55–1.65 is the golden-ratio zone most physique coaches aim at. Above 1.7 you're in competitive-bodybuilder X-frame territory.
How do I improve the ratio?
Two levers: grow the frame (lateral delts, lats, upper chest) and manage the waist (nutrition, not endless crunches). Because it's a ratio, a 3 cm waist reduction often moves it as much as months of delt work.
Does the ratio matter for women?
The 1.618 shoulder-to-waist target is male-typical. Female aesthetic research centres on waist-to-hip ratio instead — a different calculator, and honestly a different debate.
